Found out that the problem was actually with my router so I got it replaced and everything works fine. Thank guys for all the feedback and help, it's much appreciated

Also, make sure there isn't a firewall or some av blocking it. I know at my work, if I use the wifi, there is a program or hardware called Fortinet that blocks certain games from working.

You didn't update the firmware or anything did you? If all else fails you can flash the stock image back on your device and that should correct it, or first try clearing google play store cache
