So I've tried a few PC tune up software's and my PC still seems a bit slow...every time I type into Google it lags with the loading icon and even worse when I'm multi-tasking...I've barely had this PC a month and I do have quite a few programs installed but I have the memory/space for it...any help would be greatly appreciated

Edit: Nevermind, defragging seemed to help wonders, still a little bit of lag but nothing I can't deal with, it was way worse before, everything I click went into not responding mode, and took 10min just to get out of that, fixing to open photoshop and lets see if that causes things to slow down

I have HP pentium 2gb ram with 180gb of space.....

Seems my sister downloaded a virus infected game so it froze up but try using AVG because that worked wonders for me.

Which dual core? Athalia 86/64 series or phenom? Unlocked multiplier? Or locked?

If you are using win7, you are barely skating by with a 2 core amd athalon

If your motherboard is AM2+, invest in a phenom AM3. they are pretty cheap now ($50 or so) and you'll see a big difference. I did that after my hard drive fried. I saw a big speed boost, especially in rendering

If there is a fry's electronics where you live, read the ads from local newspaper or online for your area. They have good motherboard/CPU combos., most of the time better than goodegg.
