I have an HTC One running the latest official 4.2.2. firmware and GG is very slow and unresponsive at times, also searching a value takes next to forever.

What to do?

EDIT: Err... Do I feel stupid, lol.. I'm not even rooted.

So, did rooting solve the issue?

If not, is there a pattern to the slowdowns?

Haven't rooted yet and most likely not gonna, yet. To root, I first need to unlock the bootloader and the process of unlocking the bootloader also wipes my phone completely and there's the tedious task with reinstalling apps that is a pain to go through when being unrooted. With root, I've always used TiBu. I should have unlocked the bootloader right when I bought this phone... Ugh.

I didn't unlock my bootloader because it voids my warranty, but luckily I could root it without the same worry. ASUS's OS is actually not that bad rooted - I haven't even started looking for a replacement for when my warranty is expired.

Good luck!

Now I dunno where you live but here in Europe we're still entitled to warranty repairs despite having modified our software. That is, of course, if what we did wasn't the cause of whatever needs repair.

I'm in the US, but despite the claims of manufacturers, I don't know if this has ever been put to the test. From my understanding, it is still a gray (or grey - lol) area.

I think if push came to shove and a ruling was forced, we would find that the manufacturer would have to honor the warranty if, like you state, our modifications were not the cause of the problem.

Unfortunately, I am not willing to put this to the test; I don't want to be a martyr. I had to promise my wife I would work, diligently, on writing a marketable app if we purchased a new, powerful tablet. I can deal with ASUS's OS for a year just for the security and peace of mind. As a matter of fact, I actually need to send it in for warranty work (a screen problem) and I will set it back to factory defaults before shipping it, just in case.

I do miss my ClockworkMod, though....
