hi there :) i just got a kindle fire from a cousin about a week ago and kinda bored with it since only amazon appstore on it -0- so i came across this site :o

 

i was wondering if it is safe to root it or not

As long as you follow the directions correctly, it should be totally safe. XDA should have a guide on how to root it safely, and securely. If your more into videos look around on YouTube, search "How to root Kindle Fire".
