Here we will talk about putting a skin on your 3D object. I made a very basic vase for this tut. below the "drawing board" so to speak is the "materials" window. this is where you create skins for your objects!
after you click "New Material" you will have this screen pop up
here, you can edit it's color, reflection, transparency (and refraction for glass type materials), "bump" (a picture that will embed itself into the object, like diamond plate, tread for tires, etc.), glow (a light bulb), fog, and other goodies. Try them all out!
to put the material on to your object, simply click and drag it onto the object's name. then it will look like this:
then after your render your item, you will see the very little details for your object! like so:

it was a barebones 3ds file from a friend at work. He uses a different program, and Cinema 4D doesn't read his files right

So, I am going to be making a shield today to show you how to make your own 3D image using Cinema 4D (mine is R12, but shouldn't matter what version you are using)
Okay, first you make a 2D line. In this case, I made half of it because it is symmetrical. And to make it custom, I did it with the freehand tool.
In using the freehand tool, I made this object
Now before anything else!!!! we must close this object to make it work right with NURBS (turning a wireframe to 3D)
Now, the one I am going to use is called Extrude NURBS, which does what it says, extrude the wireframe object.
If you look at he bottom right, there is options on how your extrude works. I made a "cap" on the end of each extrude to make the edges more round.
Next is to make it's twin along side it and "merge" them to make a symmetrical object. easiest way is the "Symmetry" tool
now: see that little bulge at the bottom? that isn't right for a shield! now to erase it with the Boole tool
I did this with a random cube. It could alternatively be done with anything, just as long as the mistake is gone!
That is all folks! I will have another Tutorial on Cinema 4D once I create the next step!

yes, in the render options, you can have it make a gif, tiff image sequence or png sequence for importing to image editing software. Also has an option for avi, mpg, mp4, etc.

I've been trying Cinema 4D but I get the same thing as the C4D renders, so I just download them already made and use them in photoshop, that program is complicated for me
Even just using a premade c4d file makes your photo editing that much better, using the skin options and changing transparency, reflection, color, cloudiness (make it look like old plastic), and bevel (like a dented piece of armor) gives you way more detail and complexity in your photos
Edit: the hair option, and gravity makes making videos way easier than other CGI programs.

If there is a fry's electronics where you live, read the ads from local newspaper or online for your area. They have good motherboard/CPU combos., most of the time better than goodegg.

If your motherboard is AM2+, invest in a phenom AM3. they are pretty cheap now ($50 or so) and you'll see a big difference. I did that after my hard drive fried. I saw a big speed boost, especially in rendering

Which dual core? Athalia 86/64 series or phenom? Unlocked multiplier? Or locked?
If you are using win7, you are barely skating by with a 2 core amd athalon

Personally, I don't care for HTC though. Sense is to slow for me.
If you think sense is slow. Do NOT try blur. My x2 (dual core) stock moto blur, ran slower than this inc (single core) on stock sense. Now, on CM7, my x2 runs faster like it should

Welcome Uzephi! I missed a big conversation...
. Yeah, chat.... It's thrown a bunch of SQL errors, so, we are working on modding it (yes, we now mod forums too!), so as to MAKE it compatible. Nice, love the layout. I will be working on a logo and nameplates to match to enter in the contest if it is still going. Mind you I have a 12hr shift coming up and c4d files take at least a day or two making, and then the rendering... ugh, that alone might take a good 20mins rendering depending on the detail

I will, but I don't think D2 would be able to use the .c4d (Cinema 4D's version of a PSD file) for anything, lmao
